The Secret Behind 10Gbps over 30m KING KABLE Optical USB Type-C Cable Explained
2022-01-18
VR and machine vision applications place two conflicting demands on USB cables: 10Gbps-class bandwidth and reach far beyond copper. KING KABLE answers with an active AOC design, the USB037 optical fiber USB3.1 Gen2 Type-C cable, which sustains the full 10Gbps over 30 meters.
At its core are an electro-optical conversion chip and OM3 10G optical fiber: electrical signals from the host are converted to light, travel through the fiber, and are converted back at the device. Because light is immune to EMI and does not attenuate with distance the way copper does, signal integrity stays consistent across 10m and 30m lengths, with a slim 4.8mm diameter and a 20mm static minimum bend radius for flexible routing.
Structurally, the cable combines OM3 10G fibers with copper fillers and Kevlar anti-pull yarns under an eco-friendly PVC jacket, rated for 100N long-term and 200N short-term tension and 200N long-term and 400N short-term crush, so it withstands the frequent pulling and bending of VR use. Connectors are USB Type-C male to male with gold-plated zinc alloy shells and die-cast zinc alloy housings.
Beyond 10Gbps data, the USB037 supports PD 60W fast charging to keep headsets powered during streaming, and supports the UVC video protocol. It works with Meta Quest, Quest PRO, PICO and VIVE devices as well as industrial cameras, security surveillance and machine vision systems. The cable is unidirectional (host to device), plug and play with no external power, operates from -20C to +70C and is certified to ROHS 2.0 and REACH.
